We have a few days on the goldcoast before we head off for Tasmania. We'll be celebrating our youngest grandchild, Oliver, first birthday 🎂🎁
What a challenging day. Left home at 9am expecting to be all set up at Canungra showgrounds by 2pm.
After calling ahead to check they were open, we were offered a spot but advised there was lots of water laying around. By the time we got to Caboolture the rain started.
We stopped in Jimboomba to recheck the roads and wait for the rain to ease. Decided to give Canungra a miss. We booked into Advance town caravan park or so we thought. Once we finally found a route that didn't have closures they rang back to say the 1 spot they had left was now under water as they'd had 5 hrs of solid rain.
So we stopped in Logan village to sit out the pouring rain and recheck the roads. We encountered a vehicle on our side of a busy road, coming towards us in the rain. Close enough to scare us both.
Ended up going back to the Hwy and headed to Rachel and John's to regroup and come up with plan D. More pouring rain and it was 5pm by the time we got there.
The boys were happy to see us.
We have parked the camper in Rachel and John's driveway. We usually don't as the angle of the driveway causes the towball and/or the drop down van legs to scrape on the cement. But enough was enough for one day. Seth suggested we sleep in his room for 1 night and he could sleep in the cubby house for 1 night. How could we resist.
Today we traveled 405kms.
Kudos to those who got to the end of this long winded novel 😉
Friday 14.2.20
Mark and I went for a short ride, between rain bursts, along the Nerang river. It's flowing fast and much deeper than when I normally walk along it.
The obligatory coffee and a chocolate ❤ for valentine's day.
Saturday 15.2.20
We took Seth to his swimming lessons and left Rachel to decorate the cake.
Melissa and the girls came down for the weekend.
Oliver and his friends had a play at Inflatable world before having afternoon tea at the house. It was a very hot, loud and fun day.

We all fell into bed exhausted.
